The History of Expensive Silver White Tea

Seru TV - White Tea or Silver Tea, which is expensive, turns out to have a long history. In Jambi, this white tea is produced by PTPN 6 Kayo Aro - Kerinci - Jambi Province.

Quoted from agricultural research and development go id, white tea is a type of tea that is less popular than black tea or green tea. This white tea can even be classified as a rare and most expensive tea in the world.

The white tea produced by PTPN 6 Jambi is even valued at Rp 5 million per one kilogram. If you buy just 1 gram, the price is Rp. 500 thousand. Just brew a few pots of hot tea.

The history of white tea dates back to the Song Dynasty from 1279 to 690 BC. The imperial family and royal officials, consume this type of tea from the easy and green shoots of this tea.

This tea, which is full of health benefits, has only been consumed by royalty for many years. The world does not yet know the existence of this rare tea. Until finally, China decided to export white tea to Asian and European countries.

As explained by Achmedi, Secretary of PTPN VI Jambi, white tea is made from the leaves of Camellia sinensis which are very young and have not yet bloomed. The shoots of these tea leaves are carefully picked in the morning from 6 to 9 at the Kayu Aro Kerinci Jambi tea plantation.

After picking, this white tea is dried in the sun and processed in a system that also requires care and precision. The young leaves, which are clear as silver or white, are selected as the best and then packaged and marketed.

"Now the price is around Rp 5 million per kilo," said Achmedi to the media, a few days ago.

In China, the secrets of the withering process of white tea vary from region to region. As in the Fujian area which relies on climatic conditions and traditions of each family, the highest grade white tea (superme grade) is made from only selected tea leaf buds.

Then below or high grade, made from leaf buds and the first 2 leaf buds picked in the spring in just two days to two weeks each year. Sometimes the plant must be shaded for a month or more before the shoots are picked to produce white tea.

So that white tea has low levels of chlorophyll and higher polyphenol antioxidants. But the caffeine is very low.

In China, white tea is classified as Yin Zhen Bai Hao (Silver Needle), Bai Mu Dan (White Peony), Gongmei (Tribute Eyebrow), and Shou Mei (Long Life Eyebrow). Currently, the demand for white tea outside China such as in the United States, Britain and European countries and Japan is increasing.(red)
